The SY35 is a hybrid vector synthesizer from the early 1990's. Its sound engine includes both 16-bit wave ROM and FM sounds. It has a built-in joystick that can be used for realtime sound morphing in much the same way as the Korg Wavestation. The Yamaha SY22 is very similar, but with 12-bit ROM sounds and a slightly different sample set. It is also available in tabletop form as the Yamaha TG33.
